Dispensaries \ Caregivers

LMMTI establishes laws regarding dispensaries and caregivers. Caregivers must be designated by the patient and have the responsibility for assisting the patient in the safe use of medical marijuana, and providing medical cannabis to patients from dispensaries. A caregiver may care for only one (1) qualifying patient at a time. D.C. Caregivers must be registered with the state, and be 18 years of age or older. Dispensaries are authorized to grow and provide registered qualifying patients with usable marijuana and related paraphernalia. These are state licensed operations that must register with D.C. Medical dispensaries are limited to growing no more than 95 plants on site at any time. The Health Department will oversee the creation on as many as eight facilities made up of producers and retailers to dispense medical marijuana to authorized patients.
